Mayor Russ Wall has a broad forward-looking vision to address the important issues facing the City of Taylorsville at such a critical time in our growth.

  1. As a small business owner for more than ten years, he realizes the need to help businesses succeed by streamlining permitting and licensing. He has been and will continue to serve as an advocate for local businesses.
  2. The City will expand on its prosperity as it continues to be a destination for both work and play through continued collaboration with the Taylorsville Campus of the Salt Lake Community College and ongoing economic development activities which recruit businesses offering quality jobs and provide varied shopping opportunities. He plans to make sure that the City enhances its stature as a lifestyle and economic engine in the heart of the valley.
  3. Taylorsville will develop the best variety of transportation options for its citizens by expanding mass transit to the Salt Lake Community College, employment centers, and other parts of the City. He will continue to promote having safe, coordinated walking and biking routes and reducing congestion on our streets. He also pledges to pursue all means and methods of finding regional, state, and federal monies to fund these improvements.
  4. Streets are not just a way to get from point A to point B. Rather they should be a safe and attractive connection to the destinations in our daily lives. Wall plans to continue the City's street beautification programs already underway on Redwood Road, 5400 South, and Interstate 215.
  5. Mayor Wall wants to see attractive, safe and well-lit residential areas throughout the City. He will continue with the proactive ordinance enforcement program and ensure that the City continues to provide resources for neighborhood cleanups.
  6. A healthy City proactively engages in community revitalization. Mayor Wall is committed to projects which redevelop areas of the City which have fallen on hard times. He believes in partnerships that reinvigorate shopping centers, employment centers and neighborhoods. He will go after all reasonable means of assistance to ensure that abandoned properties are revitalized and will not become a blight to the neighborhood or community.
  7. Taylorsville deserves plentiful and well-maintained recreational facilities. Mayor Wall plans to continue to grow the City's first-class parks, recreation facilities, and trail systems as they come together into recreation amenities accessible to everyone.
  8. City government policies and law enforcement activities will serve as a model for justice and equality for all residents. The Police Department will serve the community through proactive partnerships, quick response to needs and concerns, and staying ahead of evolving crime trends.
  9. Mayor Wall pledges to be an active part of a City staff that will pay attention to citizen comments, concerns and complaints. More than just words, he prides himself on returning all calls and inquiries that he receives. It is a policy that he embraces and one that all City staff members will carry out. His dedication to customer service is a key feature in his commitment to providing the citizens of Taylorsville an accessible, proactive, accountable, innovative and service-oriented local government.
  10. Senior Citizens are a growing and valued part of the City of Taylorsville. He has actively pursued housing projects that provide affordable opportunities for seniors to live as healthy and active members of the community. The City will encourage appropriate private, as well as subsidized senior housing projects which can take advantage of the Taylorsville Senior Center, area medical services and recreation opportunities.
